Healing Across Cultures: My Professional Journey
From a young age, I knew I wanted to help people. Inspired by my late godmother, a counselor, I attended her workshops on emotional awareness, which ignited my passion for mental health. My journey led me to study in the United States and South Africa, where I gained a deep understanding of psychology and developed a strong clinical and theoretical foundation. Both countries offered rich educational experiences, exposing me to a variety of therapeutic modalities. This broad training prepared me to approach mental health with versatility and empathy.
My humanitarian work has taken me from Homa Bay – Kenya, to Eswatini, Myanmar, India and Ethiopia. I have worked in multidisciplinary teams within hospital settings, schools, and various NGO sectors, collaborating with government officials to address mental health needs. At Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital and Crawford International School, I have had the privilege of providing therapeutic services to children, youth and parents. This diverse experience has allowed me to offer a wide range of therapeutic support, addressing the unique needs of individuals and groups across different cultural contexts.
